Nomi Privacy Policy

Nomi helps you turn text, speech, and photos into an explanation and next steps. This policy describes the iPhone app.

What stays on your iPhone

Nomi saves the captures you submit, their original text, image, or recording, recognized text, results, and preparation checks in the app’s private storage. Documents imported in earlier versions remain there until you delete them. Nomi does not have an account, a Nomi cloud service, or built-in analytics. Recordings analyzed on this iPhone are temporary and are removed after transcription or on the next launch after an unexpected exit. Recordings submitted to Gemini are saved with the capture so you can retry or export it. Unfinished text and reviewed speech drafts are saved on your iPhone so you can return to them. Nomi’s widget reads a small local copy of your next steps.

Captures and drafts are excluded from automatic device backup. You can export your captures to a file and import them on another iPhone. You choose where that file goes. It contains your original inputs and results, and a destination such as cloud storage may apply its own privacy practices.

Understanding your captures

Apple Intelligence and downloaded models process captures on your iPhone when selected and available. For on-device analysis, Nomi uses Apple’s speech recognition to turn microphone recordings into editable words. Downloading a model contacts its file host, which may receive standard network information such as your IP address.

If you choose an external AI provider, Nomi sends new captures and retries to the endpoint you configured. This includes submitted text, original photos and PDF documents, added context, and your provider API key. Gemini also receives original recordings. OpenAI and Anthropic cannot analyze recordings in Nomi; choose Gemini or an on-device model to use Speak. Nomi shows the destination and asks for permission before selecting the provider. The provider or endpoint you choose may store or use submitted content under its own terms and privacy policy. Review those terms before connecting it. You can stop future sharing by selecting an on-device model or removing the provider connection in Settings.

Calendar and permissions

If you choose Add to Calendar, Apple’s event editor shows a draft. Nomi does not read your calendar. An event is saved only when you confirm in the editor; your chosen calendar service may then sync it under that service’s settings. Camera access is used to capture a photo. Microphone access is used for speech capture. You can change these permissions in iPhone Settings.

Retention and your choices

Captures stay on your iPhone until you delete them in Nomi or remove the app. Deleting a capture removes its original input and result from Nomi and its widget snapshot. You can remove downloaded models and provider keys in Settings. Exported files and calendar events are outside Nomi and must be deleted where you saved them. Because Nomi has no account or server copy of your captures, there is no remote capture record for us to delete.
